Bangladesh Bank on Thursday said the women who wear hijab would be allowed to use automated teller machine booths.

The BB issued a press release saying that the people should not get deluded in this regard, as the central bank never imposed any embargo on using the ATM booths for the women who wear hijab.

The press release said that an official of a scheduled bank at a meeting held at the BB headquarters recently wanted to know whether the hijab wearing women would be allowed to enter into the ATM booths.

The central bank earlier asked the banks to maintain special observation when the people, who wear caps and sunglasses and carry bags, use the ATM booths.
