The inaugural program of The Operations Research Society of Bangladesh (ORSOB) was held in March14, 2021, through Google meet.

A number of renowned scientists worked tirelessly to make the program a grand success. ORSOB makes its journey on the international mathematics day. In the inaugural program the chief guest was the distinguished queuing theorist Professor Dr. A. Krishnamoorthy, formerly of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). He held the position of Head of the Department of Mathematics, at the University for a long time. He has published more than 240 research articles all in reputed journals from all around the world. He has supervised 39 PhD students so far. At present he is popularizing Operations Research concepts in India, especially in Kerala and Tamilnadu.


The guest of honor was Professor Dr.Shahjahan Khan of Southern Queensland University, Australia. He is a renowned statistician. He is a fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Science and Royal Statistical Society, UK. He has published more than 200 research articles and three books so far.


As the special guests, a number of mathematicians were present in the program including Professor Dr. T. Trivikraman of Cochin University of Science and Technology and former Head of the Department of Mathematics. He is an expert in Fuzzy Mathematics. Professor Dr. Ganesh Chandra Roy, former Chairman, Department of Mathematics, Chittagong University, Professor Dr. Md. Shaowkat Ali, Chairman, Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Dhaka and General Secretary, Bangladesh Mathematical Society. Professor Dr. Mahtab U. Ahmed and Professor Dr. Aminur Rahman of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Dr. Haider Ali Biswas, former Chairman, Department of Mathematics, Khulna University, Professor Dr. Mosammat Nasrin Akter of DUET, Dr. Sivashankari of RMK Engineering college, Chennai, India, Dr. Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury and Mr. Ali Ahmed Mujumder of Dallas University, USA. Mrs. Chinmayee Poddar, Chairman of Mathematics, Barishal University, Dr. Shahansha Khan, Head of the Department, Uttara University, Bangladesh. Mohammad Hossain Alam of IUT, Poland, Dr. Ataullah, Dr. KM Shafiq and Rupen Barua.


The vote of thanks were given by Mr. Mofizur Rahman of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.

The host of the program was Professor Dr. Mohammad Ekramol Islam, Treasurer, Northern University Bangladesh.

All the speakers emphasized on how society can contribute in a country like Bangladesh. The main purpose of society is to popularize research among young people in the country as well as to tackle some realistic problems for getting optimal solutions.

Since Operations Research is an interdisciplinary subject scientists from different fields can make contributions for the society.
