Professor Atiqul Islam joined North South University (NSU) as the vice-chancellor (VC) yesterday, says a press release

He has been appointed by President Md Abdul Hamid and Chancellor of the university. Before joining to the NSU, Professor Atiqul was the Pro Vice -Chancellor of Edith Cowan University in Australia.

Earlier, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Government at the University of Canberra. Over his long academic career, he served at the University of Sydney, NSW, Curtin University, University of Canterbury and the National University of Singapore.

Professor Islam completed his BCom Honours and MCom from the University of Dhaka. He obtained a Masters from the University of New South Wales and a PhD from the University of Sydney.

He is also a fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.

Professor Islam has published in national and international journals. He edited a refereed business journal for over a decade, reviewed articles, reviewed research funding proposals for Australian Research Council and for a Saudi University.

He has supervised and examined a large number of post graduate theses including PhD.
