Dhaka University acting registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman has been removed following a debate over his article in a souvenir in which he mentioned Ziaur Rahman as the country’s first president.
Acting proctor Amzad Ali told media that a probe body has been formed to investigate the matter.
DU Authority has published a souvenir on the occasion of the DU Day and 95th founding anniversary of the varsity where acting registrar Rezaur Rahman wrote an article.
In his write-up, Rezaur Rahman, also the member secretary of the founding anniversary celebration committee, mentioned Ziaur Rahman as the country’s first president, former Army chief and a valiant freedom fighter.

BCL men vandalise DU VC's car
Enraged activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) vandalised the car of Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique on Friday afternoon over mentioning Ziaur Rahman as the country’s first president in a souvenir.
The VC escaped unhurt although he was in the car during the attack in front of his residence at about 3pm.

In his write-up, Rezaur Rahman, also the member secretary of the founding anniversary celebration committee, mentioned Ziaur Rahman as the country’s first president, former Army chief and a valiant freedom fighter that angered the general students and BCL men.
Protesting the matter, BCL leaders and activists brought out a procession from Madhu’s canteen after Jum’a prayers. They also staged demonstration in front of the VC’s residence demanding his resignation.
Witnesses said, the VC faced protest while entering home. At one stage, the demonstrating student politicos damaged the glass of the car. Brandishing firearm by the VC’s body guard made the BCL activists more unruly. Later, the VC managed to enter his residence.
